Choose A Type Of Sheep Shearing Comb With A Width & Bevel Shape To Suit You

There are a varying number of factors to consider when choosing the correct bevel length or the width of a shearing comb

  1. Weather patterns – what the weather is doing for 2-3 weeks prior to shearing can affect how the wool sits on the skin.
  2. Individual shearer experience and style.
  3. Sheep breed and wool type – wool can be dense or open.
  4. Condition of wool – clean / dirty / dusty / sandy or pumice / or amount of vegetable matter.
  5. Age of stock – adult sheep vs hoggets, whethers and lambs.
